Join the Pride 30-Day Challenge!

Good news – 23 days from today, the 30 Day Pride Challenge kicks off! The challenge was created in response to many business leaders wanting to know what additional actions they can take to truly cultivate inclusive workplace cultures for their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) employees. The 30 Day Pride Challenge offers proven strategies that any employee can implement, no matter their position within an organization.

Why was the 30-Day Pride Challenge Created?

Tragically, the United States still lacks a federal law protecting LGBTQ workers from being fired, promoted, or refused employment simply because of who they are, or who they love. This means that in the majority of states, an employer can legally fire someone just because they are LGBTQ. Given the patchwork of employment protections available to LGBTQ workers many leading Fortune 500 companies have taken it upon themselves to develop LGBTQ inclusive policies – in fact 96% of these companies offer such protections.

Yet, even when a business or jurisdiction adopts LGBTQ-inclusive policies and protections, workplace culture often lags behind the changes made on paper. This is where the 30 Day Pride Challenge can offer some relief. By actively participating in the 30 Day Pride Challenge, and dedicating less than 5 minutes a day to adopting a new strategy each day, you send an invaluable signal to your LGBTQ colleagues that they belong. Your daily actions will offer a lifeline to the 53% of LGBTQ employees who remain closeted on the job.

Participating in the 30 Day Pride Challenge can help dismantle some of the workplace and economic barriers LGBTQ employees continue to endure. Here’s a brief snapshot underscoring some of these barriers:

·      One in four LGBTQ employees report experiencing employment discrimination

·      Transgender & non-binary people experience unemployment at 3x the national average

·      Nearly 1 in 10 LGBTQ employees have left a job because of a hostile work environment

·      In 2014, more than 1 in 4 LGBTQ adults (2.2 million) struggled to feed their families

How Can the 30-Day Pride Challenge Help You?

Pride Month kicks off on Friday, June 1 and is celebrated through Saturday, June 30. When you enroll in the 30 Day Pride Challenge, you’ll receive one actionable strategy every day that will take five minutes to accomplish. This means that over the course of June, you’ll have access to 30 simple strategies ranging from: 1) self-education activities to help you understand the current workplace climate for LGBTQ people; 2) guidance on how to share the economic business case for LGBTQ inclusion, and 3) tips on how to signal that you are a workplace ally.

When you enroll, you’ll also gain a community of passionate workforce champions ready to support your journey, share knowledge, and help build the confidence needed to cultivate workplace cultures of belonging for your LGBTQ colleagues. The community will stay connected through a private Facebook community, and through a 90 minute Zoom strategy call facilitated by the RPC team. The strategy call takes place on Thursday, June 28 at 11 am PT/2 pm ET, and will be recorded for those that cannot attend.

Breaking down the 30 Day Pride Challenge’s value in the most basic terms means that for only $27 - less than $1/day - you will gain support, strategies, and confidence to cultivate a LGBTQ inclusive workplace, no matter your position by accessing the following:

  1. Daily Actions. One email strategy/day, for a total of 30 strategies you can immediately put into action, no matter your role within the organization

  2. Expert Coaching. A closed 90 minute strategy session with fellow workforce champions looking for inspiration and support from RPC

  3. Supportive Community. Lifetime access to a private Facebook Community dedicated to building LGBTQ inclusive workplace cultures

If you're willing to invest at least 5 minutes a day, you too can transform yourself, and your organization. The small practice shifts you make during Pride Month, will lead to the big culture change you desire for your workplace. Through these efforts, you will make significant contributes that will truly make a world of difference for your LGBTQ colleagues – many of whom have yet to know what it feels like to belong at work. Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to supporting you during the 30 Day Pride Challenge!
