Celebrate September
Celebrations and September go hand-in-hand. This year is especially worthy of celebrating. Why? September is my birth month, and to honor the day, I'll be participating in Cycle Oregon's 30th Anniversary! As you are reading this post, I have already rode 300+ miles over stoic peaks, deep canyons, and sweeping vistas. I live for these kinds of adventures!
I'm also celebrating this month because I just finalized the manuscript for my first book, Belonging at Work! l wrote the book to help leaders, and those on their way to joining them, build diverse and inclusive workplaces. The stories, case studies, and research featured in the book offer everyday actions you can take, no matter your role, to build a more inclusive organization.
For those interested in learning more about the book, check out the following resources:
Book Updates. I'll be sharing updates over the next two months. To stay more connected with the process, I encourage you to opt-in to receive book related updates here: www.rhodesperry.com/book. There you'll have the option to indicate if you are interested in purchasing the book, promoting the book, or both. You'll also have the opportunity to share what it means to belong at work in your own words.
Podcast Testimonial. Fellow podcast creator & host, Shawn Price, took some time out of her busy recording schedule to feature an epic book testimonial on her podcast, Chasing Fifty. She focused the show on one of the central concepts differentiating what it means to live by the platinum rule as opposed to the golden rule. For a sneak peek of what all of this means, download her show here.
Video Testimonial. Fellow out entrepreneur, Jay Pryor, also took some time and shared a heartfelt message of what the book meant to him. I am so honored he took so much time out of his very busy coaching and keynote speaking schedule to share such kind words about the book, and his personal experiences of being an out entrepreneur. His words touched my heart, and I hope they inspire you as well.
Leading up to the book's launch date, I will be moderating a live panel discussion with several award winning diversity, equity, and inclusion thought leaders who were interviewed in the book. We will be discussing what it means to belong at work in relation to the results of the 2018 Midterm Elections. If you're curious about where this work fits post elections, definitely save the date for World Kindness Day on Tuesday, November 13.
